About Us

Kaboom Studios is the united front of artists Jason Lam and Adam Synnott. Both respected dancers, their inner nerd found expression in designing for theatre and installations. They have a rich history in design and media, having worked with companies and artists such as The Australian Ballet, Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company, Experimenta Media Arts, The Bavarian State Ballet, Dance North, Leigh Warren and Dancers, Tasdance, Australian Dance Theatre and Sue Healey Company.

Recently Adam won the Adelaide Critic’s Circle award for Innovation in the Arts for his work on the acclaimed ‘Side to One’ and performed in Shaun Parker’s European tour of ‘Happy as Larry’. Jason is a doctor at Royal Darwin Hospital and has most recently designed for Graeme Murphy’s Romeo and Juliet with the Australian Ballet. Other notable highlights include Leigh Warren and Dancers ‘Impulse’, Sue Healey’s ‘As you take time’. Graeme Murphy’s ‘Silver Rose’ and “Some Rooms’. They have consulted on interactive installations with the South Australian Museum and the new Royal Childrens Hospital, Melbourne. Early in 2012 Kaboom Studios will install 3 works in Barrio as part of the Adelaide Festival.

As well as collaborative works, they have an independent practice, exhibiting and showing nationally and internationally. Adam and Jason have lectured at The University of Technology Sydney, Flinders University and the University of New South Wales across different facets of digital media, performance and design.
