South Australian Museum

We developed a concept for the South Australian Museum bringing the latest in interactive technologies to the experience of their Biodiversity Gallery. Upon entry, a large interactive projected wall greets the visitor displaying a transect of the South Australian environment from coast to red desert, responding to each visitor’s presence. The traditional plaques are replaced with touch screens, appropriating the interaction language of touch phones -integrating rich media in the form of mini-documentaries. Another feature is an interactive fish tank where the fish react to presence and touch. Each species has particular personalities and reveal information when gently stroked.

Light Interrupted

Year – 2009
Multi-touch screen installation Light Interrupted is a rear projected multi-touch display. Using a combination of Touch Designer and Max/MSP the screen displayed a muti-touch 3d painter/modeller. Colour and sound were effected by the number of users and the gestures they painted.

Extirpation

Year – 2007
Multi Channel Interactive Projection
5 Computers running Max/MSP/Jitter and Touch Designer

“There is no escape from our interdependence with nature; we are woven into the closest relationship with the Earth, the sea, the air, the seasons, the animals and all the fruits of the Earth. What affects one affects all – we are part of a greater whole – the body of the planet.”– Bernard Campbell, Human Ecology

Extirpation is an interactive digital ecosystem looking at the impact of human activity and the environment.

The participant is invited in to the gallery space where they are presented with an interactive digital forest consisting of plant and animal life. As they spend time in the environment, their presence and collective actions begin to effect the environment,  possibly leading to catastrophic degradation of the environmentor to its continued existence – their (our) actions will decide. website
